INTJ (The Architect)

In this review, I will analyze one of the 4 girls from Doki Doki Literature Club

Yuri

The most reserved and shy of the 4, she has a strong and vibrant inner personality, with many psychological problems revealed throughout the plot, I believe Yuri is the INTJ type, I will use several examples throughout the game to explain the Ni-Te-Fi-Se functions

ACT 1 (day one)

1) MC:

"Do you have a cup of tea in the room?"

Yuri:

"Don't worry, the teachers let you, not least because a good cup of tea helps you appreciate a good book!"

Notice how Yuri in this sentence (as well as most of the game) focuses a lot on efficiency for writing, he wants the environment to favor his writing (Te aux), using tea in a way associative to writing, is very Te.

2) Yuri:

"What do you like to read [MC's name]"

MC:

"Manga (says whispering)"

Yuri:

"Not much of a reader I imagine."

MC:

"But that might change!, As for you, Yuri?"

Yuri:

"Well, my favorites are those who build deep and complex fantasy worlds, the level of creativity and inventiveness behind them are amazing, and telling a good story with such an exotic world is equally impressive, but you know, I like a lot of things, stories with deep psychological elements also captivate me, isn't it amazing how the writer can take advantage of your own lack of imagination to surprise you?"

Emphasizing imagination and depth in writing, she likes books that activate her intuition, he has an optical lens very much geared towards a deep view of writing, she considers Natsuki's writing very shallow in the most casual sense, as there is no depth in everything Natsuki writes, Yuri goes at the root of intuitive information, so all her connection with symbolism and abstractions of reality coming to Ni dominant

Day Two

3) (Yuri giving a book as a gift to the MC)

Yuri:

"Okay, here it is, I wanted you to join the club, so I chose a book that you might like, it's a quick read, so it should hold your attention even if you're not used to literature"

See how Yuri analyzes the MC based on some logical concepts (Te), and based on that seeks a book that the MC could read without a problem, if it was Natsuki or Sayori giving a book to the MC, I doubt both would be as rational and careful as Yuri was.

4) MC:

"Yuri do you like ghosts?"

Yuri:

"Actually the story has nothing to do with ghost [MC's name]"

MC:

"Really?!, I must have understood nothing then"

Yuri:

"Well, you just took a look at it, after all. But remember that poets usually express their feelings and work experiences, they usually do more than a simple story, or paint a picture, in that case perhaps the poem's theme is simply being symbolically compared to a ghost, like one who clings to his last place of comfort unable to let go of the past."

That's very Ni, Yuri's argument with Natsuki was Fi-Se×Ni-Fi

Yuri liked symbolic things, which expressed feelings in an abstract and metaphorical way, this is the way Yuri uses to express his Fi, that is, using Ni to express Fi

Natsuki was critical of this type of writing, he appreciated simpler, more direct and concrete writing, Natsuki didn't like Yuri's poems because people had to read between the lines (using Se to express Fi)

You can see how Yuri is more essential?, She uses objects and objective information only as an association of the ideas

Ghost=one who clings to his last place of comfort unable to let go of the past.

This is the metaphor of Yuri's entire text, there is no imaginative connection to various ideas (Ne) but a sharp and penetrating focus on a symbolic vision (Ni)

5) "There's a reason we have so many intense and expressive words in our language, it's the only way to convey complex feelings and meanings more effectively, to avoid it would not only be limiting yourself, it would be wasteful."

See how Yuri uses her Ni (symbolic intuition) and Te (organization/efficiency) to convey all the complex feelings of the tertiary Fi?

6) "[Sayori] you should buy only what you can afford, responsibly, and frankly after using such a mean scam like that, your troubles is a fair retribution"

(Context:the "mean blow" that Yuri was talking about is when Sayori wanted to go with the MC to buy snacks when she was out of money, for him to pay for her)

Notice how Yuri is more sincere and impartial and responsible, that's Te, she's not as sentimental as people say, she's more sincere and harsh when she thinks it's fair, besides you can see that he in general creates a rational system of what should be done and what shouldn't be done, and who does the wrong should be punished, that's a social law, common among Je users

7) ~My interpretation of this poem~

Raccoon=All of Yuri's dark side

Bread=Body

The raccoon represents all of Yuri's shadow and bad side, from anxiety to a fetish for cuts and knives

Yuri relieves all the stress by self-mutilating, to alleviate all his emotional and mental problems

At this point, Yuri was already showing signs of Se grip, which is further reinforced in the course

at the end of the game Yuri went into a pure Se-grip, Yuri started to cut and touch himself to satisfy his sexual desire for the MC, he was trying to satisfy his physical desires in an unhealthy way, entering this sexual cycle, INxJ's when in a grip, can start to get addicted and depend on superficial physical activities to satisfy themselves, in Yuri's case, every time she approached the MC she felt a strong sexual desire, cutting and twisting sexually (with the MC's pen) relieved that stress

But I will go into more detail about this at the end of the analysis 

8) "The best we can do is to respect each other's individualities"

Very Fi sentence, valuing individuality

9) "I really don't do well with last minute preparations"

This shows his Ni+Te, Yuri always wants to prepare and prevent before things even happen, it is usually hard for INTJ to improvise or do things in a hurry, this is Yuri's problem, which increases even more with his ansiendade problems

10) "[MC name] the world is full of meanings usually hidden at first glance, and there are many mysteries hidden in every person, no matter how well you know them"

See how Yuri always ends up talking about how deep things are, she likes in any circumstance to go to the root of every piece of information, she doesn't take one view and decipher into several (Ne), she doesn't give subjective impressions to experiences (Si), she sees people as a mystery, her low social skills make her unable to understand people, even though she is not so open to infinite and variable intuitions (like Sayori), she shows to be more punctual, focused on a single point, very deep, I don't see Ne, I see a very healthy Ni 

Poem day 3

"A wonder millions of years in the making.

Where the womb of the earth chaotically meets the surface.

Under a clear blue sky, a vastness of bliss

But under gray clouds, an endless enigma.

The easiest world in which to get lost

Is the one where everything can be found.

A person can only build a sand castle where the sand is wet.

But where the sand is wet, the tide comes.

Will it gently lick your foundation until you give in?

Or will a sudden wave knock you over in the blink of an eye?

Either way, the result is the same.

Yet we still build sand castles.

I stand still where the foam wraps around my ankles.

Where my toes sink into the sand.

The salty air is therapeutic.

The breeze is gentle, but powerful.

I sink my toes into the final border, tempted by the foamy waves.

Go back and I abandon my peace to wear myself out on the shore.

Keep moving forward and I return to Earth forever."

11) After Natsuki and Yuri conhecidentally made a poem with a similar theme the other day, they decide to make another similar one, while Natsuki makes it about qs more concrete characteristicas of the beach, Yuri uses pseudo metaphors

For example:

1-"Where the womb of the earth chaotically meets the surface."

2-"But under gray clouds, an endless enigma."

3-"The breeze is gentle, but powerful.

I sink my toes into the final border, tempted by the foaming waves."

These are all associations, she uses beach only an associative way to explain her visions, which shows a clear preference for intuition

12) "the stagnation of the air is an omen that something bad is about to happen"

In this sentence Yuri observes data and collects micro details of the environment to try to make a prediction of the future, which any guy can do, but I believe in Yuri's case it is really Ni

ACT 2:

13) "Yuri seems to get extremely excited when she's with you [referring to the MC], which wouldn't be a problem, but when Yuri gets too excited she looks for a place to hide and cut herself."

"But she doesn't do that because she's depressed, I think she takes some kind of pleasure in it, it might even be something sexual."

This already entered act 2, after Sayori's death, it is possible to see how Yuri started to enter grip Se, her repressed lower Se was clear in the discussion with Natsuki

But in act 2, the Se becomes visible on an exaggerated and unhealthy side, which indicates a use of lower Se in grip, Yuri starts to surrender to physical pleasures (even sexual) to try to satisfy her passion for the MC, her addiction to cutting herself and sexually masturbating is how she deals with the lower Se, but as Monika said, it's not because she has depression (like Sayori) but because of a subconscious and ultragragent addiction of her lower Se, a great example of this is when she steals the MC's pen, she makes a risky and impulsive decision just to satisfy her subconscious Se desires, this is an INTJ with a very unhealthy use of Se

3) Yuri disliked Natsuki's motives for joining and saw her as someone who would take away from the Literature Club's authority and regulation, as I'll provide a quote from Yuri to Monika.

"I don't think you're being irrational. I think Natsuki is. She has no authority to walk in here and make demands of the club. Your club." (Te aux screaming)
